As turkey season winds down and the summer weather heats up, the fall hunting seasons seem far away, like a dream almost. But summer also brings a number of outdoor shows and expos for Texas sportsmen (and sportswomen) that offer a chance to check out new hunting products and get information from hunting guides and outfitters.
This year, there are hunting shows in just about every corner of the state that offer a wide range of products, vendors, and activities for the whole family.

We emailed a few questions to the folks at Silver Spur Shows, who put on the Great Outdoors Expo, about this year’s show.
What is new/different for this year’s version of the show?
We always have about 50-70% new/different vendors, which makes the show like a new event each year. We always end up with a great variety of products, services and guides/outfitters. We will have a couple more, new activities for the kids and a full entertainment schedule. One other thing we changed is pay one admission, good all weekend!!
If you only have a couple of hours to spend at the show, what are the top things you should see? Definitely our 2 main attractions, the “Fetch N Fish High Flying Retriever Dog Show”, it is a must, all ages love this show! And you cannot miss “The Aspirin Buster” Frank Addington, shoots a baby aspirin and a couple years ago started shooting mustard seeds with his bow and arrow, behind his back!! Again, all ages really enjoy this show, he has a great message along with a FANTASTIC show. If you bring kids, we have great activities to get them interested in the outdoors, live fish pond, learning to shoot bow and arrows also. Hopefully you can squeeze in some shopping, with 70-80 booths of great products and services along with boats, outdoor equipment, tractors and MORE!
What is the parking situation at the show?
This venue has a huge parking lot, no charge for parking.
